Another Tribute to Andy

Last week our family was able to enjoy an amazing experience together. We went to Cougar Town! The spirit is so strong there! In fact as soon as you enter the Chapel of Lavell you can just feel it wash over you from head to toe taking away every burden and care of the world. As we sat enjoying the contest we marvelled and actually had a great conversation with those in our section about how by obeying the Word of Wisdom the BYU athletes are so much superior to the competition. Of course as one gentleman pointed out this is only one reason as they also pray, study the scriptures and have "Team Home Evenings" together. The only unfortunate occurence happened when someone shouted "You su*k Ref" which caused an uncomfortable hush to fall over the congregation as they prayed for this mans soul. He must have been from New Mexico as no BYU fan would ever utter something so profane.

Actually we had a great time. It was football weather being 39 at kickoff but we bundled up and stayed nice and toasty. Robyn and Adam had gone up to the first game and told us "Do not take little ones!" so we left Jaice and Jantzyn to swim in the hotel with Sheri's brother and sister and took her son Kayson with us. Kevin also has season tickets a few sections away but his daughter Ashlyn sat with us. It wasn't the most exciting game but BYU won 21-3. After we went to Brick Oven, the home of the best pizza in the world and had pasta and salad.

Well he finally did it! After not being able to complete the marathon last year because of his back, and after months of training in the hot and the cold, getting up at 4:00 and 5:00 am 3 days a week, pair after pair of shoes (all very expensive), and all the soreness; he was able to run the marathon this year and did awesome finishing it in 4:10 even with the rain (it hasn't rained during the marathon in 25 years). He felt good most of the way only getting dizzy around the 22 mile mark, he stopped at the nurse's station and got some oxygen and rested for about 5 min (while he wrang out his socks). He felt really good the rest of the way and was less sore after finishing then I was from pushing Jantzyn in the stoller up snow canyon to watch him. The girls and I are so proud of him enough so to get up at 7:00 in the morning and spend all day in the rain cheering him on. Stacy, Robyn, and Carolyn made everyone shirts to wear and even a special one for him to wear after he finished. We held a special celebatory dinner on Sunday and everyone wore their shirts to let him know how proud we are of him and how much we love him. Congratulations Buddy you did it!

EnD oF a WorKinG ErA

After 11 years of working at the telephone company in mesquite i had to make the hard decision to leave that job (I love and miss the girls I worked with, but not the drive or hour lost coming home), and take one closer to home that makes it so i am only working 3 days instead of 4 a week .
I just started working in St. George on Monday at Jeffrey Simister's orthodontic office. I have learned a lot in just the three days since I started. The office staff has been so nice and helpful to me (just like they always were when we were just patients). I even found out that I have known Dr. Simister's wife since I lived in Cedar.
Some of the best parts of being back up here is for the first time in 5 years I had a lunch date with my husband, today I was home without any of the kids for the first time in a long time and chose to use the peaceful time to go grocery shopping all by myself, and I probably saved some money too..without them begging for everything we pass. I guess this is a start of a new era in my life.

Our Last Summer Get Away

August 15-17 We got to go with all the Losee clan (Dean Losee and Lane Losees) to Lake Powell to stay on Terry's Cousin Sharla and Jeremy's House Boat. We had a very fun and relaxing time. Our family at Lake Powell

I am trying to get all my kids to ride with me ( I thought it might make Terry go a little slower if he knew the whole family was on).

Terry couldn't decide which he like more the seadoo boat or the seadoo jet ski so I put them both on.

The kids loved riding with him......He went fast. I am so glad they were far enough away I didn't see it.

Long Lost Cowley Family Reunion

On Aug 7-10 all 4 of us kids and our families got together for the first time in 3 years. We headed to Kolob to stay in a cabin, ride 4 wheelers, canoe, relax in the hammock, and just be together.

All the grandkids decide if noone would take them for a ride they would wait it out.

We had a great time, and hopefully the next time we get together we won't have to wait 3 years in between.

A Very Important Summer Activity

I forgot to put on probably one of the most important things that happened this summer (well at least for Jaice). Jaicelyn was baptized on July 5th. She was so excited and we are so proud of her. Congratulations Jaice we love you!!!!

Camping at Panguitch Lake

Over the 24th we took a little camping trip. We wanted to try somewhere other than Pine Valley (and cooler) so we asked our cousin Andy, who used to work on Cedar Mtn, where the best spots up there are. Sheri didn't agree with the first spot he suggested because it did not have running water or restroom facilities. We really liked the next spot up by Mammoth Creek but it was already full. So we continued up the road to the Panguitch Lake Campground. The girls had a lot of fun playing in the creek and pond, playing pickle, badminton, horseshoes, and just running wild. We all enjoyed a yummy dutch oven dinner of chicken and potatoes that Terry cooked for the first time. Just as we started cooking it started to rain so we took turns holding an umbrella over the coals so they wouldn't go out. It was nice and cool and we slept really good until some cows came wandering through the camp, and then some really loud fishermen in a tent next to us stayed up half the night telling each other of their exploits.
